Studio policies (updated May 2023)

FALL/WINTER ENROLMENT

Seed students engage in a comprehensive program consisting of 17 private lessons, 9 group lessons, orchestral rehearsal (strings only), and 1 semester-end recital.

ATTENDANCE

We ask that all classes be accompanied by a Suzuki parenting adult (a parent figure who can attend lessons and practice with the student at home).

PRIVATE CLASS MAKEUP - SCHOOL CLOSURE OR TEACHER ABSENCE

Missed private classes will be made up under the following circumstances:

  • Typhoon 8 signal (classes will run as scheduled for Amber and Red Rain, T1 and T3)
  • Black rainstorm signal
  • Teacher’s absence
  • Teacher’s outside performance: at least one month advance notice will be provided.
  • Teacher’s sickness: our administrator will inform parents as soon as possible.
  • All makeup lessons must be completed within the term. Credits cannot be transferred to the next semester.
  • No Makeup Class will be provided for Amber Rain, Red Rain, T1 and T3, as our center will remain open.

GROUP CLASS

  • No makeup class will be offered for a missed group class. Due to the social nature of this class and the challenge in coordinating multiple families' schedules, the group experience cannot feasibly be recreated.
  • A written list activities covered or materials used in the missed class will be sent to you so the child can review what has been covered in the lesson.
  • Group classes may not be swapped for a class that meets at a different time, and is subject to the same policies as listed above for private classes. As student groupings are thoughtfully considered, this policy is for the maximum benefit of the students and also to respect teachers' curriculum planning.

TEACHER MAKEUP SLOTS

  • Each teacher will have designated makeup time slots for each term. You will be sent a link to reserve a time slot.

STUDENT TRAVEL PLANS

  • If you let us know your travel dates before settling your invoice, we can factor your child's absences into their schedule for the term.

Payment Terms

Invoices include the program tuition, supplies required for classes as determined by our faculty, and an administrative/recital fee of $1,050 per semester, which is used for recital hall rental, accompanist fees, facilities and piano maintenance, and administrative services.

After full payment has been received, all fees are strictly non-refundable, non-transferrable, and non-exchangeable.
