General Information & Registration Guidelines

A. New Parent Orientation & Trial Class Package Registration

New Parent Orientation New parents are invited to a complimentary 30-minute orientation session with our director before the trial classes. The purpose is to introduce parents to the Suzuki Philosophy and Seed's unique music teaching approach. This session can be attended in person at Seed Music or conveniently online via Zoom.

Trial Class Package Registration New parents interested in a trial class should complete our new enquiry form. Upon receipt of the form, our administration will arrange the trial classes, which includes two 30-minute private lessons with the same instructor and on the same instrument.

  • Trial Class Payment Deadline: Payment for a trial class must be settled at least 48 hours before the scheduled class time.
  • Cancellation for Non-Payment: Failure to settle the invoice by the 48-hour deadline will result in the automatic cancellation of the class without further notice.
  • Rescheduling/Cancellation by Student: A minimum of 24 hours' advance notice is required to cancel or reschedule a purchased trial class.
  • Late Cancellation Charge: Classes cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged in full.
  • Rescheduling Limit: A trial session may only be rescheduled ONCE.
  • Credit Validity: Any associated credits are valid for 30 days from the date of purchase.

New Student Registration

To register for the full term after your trial class, please submit the Full Term Registration Form. Your invoice will then be processed for settlement.

Current Student Re-enrollement Procedures 

To confirm re-enrollment, current students are required to submit the Full Term Registration Form by the end of the current term.

Concert Hall Performance & Ticketing Guidelines

Application Deadline: March 1st and October 1st

Concert Hall Performance Prerequisite: Suzuki Early Childhood Programme (age 2.5-4.0) 

Open to all students with an additional concert fee. Students must have completed at least eight lessons prior to the concert date to be eligible.

Concert Hall Performance Prerequisite: Suzuki Instrumental Programmes (age 4-17)

  • Piano: Not applicable
  • Strings: Pass Twinkle Graduations
  • Vocal: Based on teacher’s recommendation

Pre-Concert Piano Accompanying and Rehearsal

  • Strings & Vocal: Entitled to 15 minutes of piano rehearsal with the pianist (scheduled during private or group class time)

Concert Ticket Policy

  • Performing Student Entry: The registered performing student is entitled to free entry.
  • Complimentary Tickets: Each performing student is allocated 2 complimentary entrance tickets.
  • Additional Tickets: Extra tickets can be purchased for HKD $200 per person, per concert.
  • Children's Admission:
    • Children aged 3 and above require a ticket and must be accompanied by an adult.
    • Children under 3 years old are admitted free of charge, provided they do not occupy a seat and are accompanied by an adult.

Make-Up Policies for School Closure or Teacher Absence

Missed private classes will be made up under the following circumstances:

  1. Typhoon 8 Signal
    • If cancelled before noon (12:00 noon) → classes resume after 2 hours.
    • If still in effect after 12 noon → all classes will be taught online (except early childhood and some piano classes).
    • Classes will proceed as scheduled for both T1 and T3.
  2. Black Rainstorm Signal
    • If cancelled before noon → classes resume after 2 hours.
    • If still in effect after 12 noon → all classes will be taught online (except early childhood and some piano classes).
    • Classes will run as scheduled for Amber and Red Rain.
  3. Teacher’s Absence
    • Classes will be rescheduled and makeup
  4. Teacher’s Outside Performance
    • At least one month advance notice will be provided.
  5. Teacher’s Sickness
    • The administrator will inform parents as soon as possible.
  6. Term Limitation
    • All make-up lessons must be completed within the term.
  7.  Unexpected Social Events or Natural Disasters If such events occur on the day of lesson (e.g., sudden public safety shutdown, community disruptions, transportation strikes, earthquakes, floods, fires or other natural disaster ), no make-up lessons will be arranged. This clause does not include scheduled weather conditions (Typhoon or Black Rain signals), which are covered above.

Make-Up Policies for Student Absence

  1. Student Sickness
    • If sickness is documented with a doctor’s note → the lesson will be made up.
    • Students who are sick but able to stay at home with less than 24 hours of notice may elect to take the lesson online.
  2. Out-of-Town Absences
    • Before settling your invoice, please inform us your travel dates and Seed will factor in your child's absences when creating their schedule for the term. 
    • Students who are out of town and give less than 24 hours’ notice may take the lesson online.
    • Otherwise, no make-up lesson will be arranged.
  3. Lesson Swaps
    Students may swap lesson times with peers (please inform the school in advance).

      4. Schedule Changes
         To request a full term schedule change, you must complete and submit the Lesson           Change Form. A non-refundable processing fee of $300 is applicable for each
         submitted form. Please note that processing typically requires a minimum of 7 working
         days.

Lesson Sharing with Family Members

Families may request to share lesson time, provided arrangements are made in advance and approved by the teacher.

  • Occasional Guest Sharing
    • A sibling or parent may occasionally join a lesson, up to two times per term.
    • No additional tuition is required for occasional participation.
    • Guests should be prepared and respectful to maintain lesson productivity.
    • Recital and performance opportunities are not included for guest participants — only the registered student may perform in recitals or public events.
  • Formal Shared Enrollment
    • Two immediate family members (siblings or parent/child) may consistently share the same weekly lesson slot.
    • Both are considered active students and must prepare individually.
    • Additional tuition may apply if teacher preparation or workload significantly increases.
    • Recital and performance opportunities remain limited to the student(s) formally registered under this arrangement.

Payment Method

  • Invoices are sent through email or WhatsApp, and payment is due within 3 days of issue.
  • After full payment has been received, all fees are strictly non-refundable, non-transferable, and non-exchangeable.
  • We accept cash, cheque, PayMe, credit/debit card (Visa, Mastercard, WeChat Pay, Alipay, FPS) online or in person. We do not accept American Express Credit Card.

Suzuki Early Childhood Programme Studio Policies (Age 1.0-4.0)

Early Childhood Programme Includes:

1. Suzuki Allegro Programme (age 1.0-2.0)
2. Suzuki Presto Programme (age 2.0-2.5)
3. Suzuki Pre-Instrumental Programme (age 2.5-4.0)

  • Make-up Class Limit: Students with a 12-class package are entitled to a maximum of 2 make-up classes.
  • Credit Validity: Make-up class credits are valid for four (4) months, starting from the date of the first scheduled lesson.
  • Event Cancellation (Non-Sickness): Written notice of cancellation for non-sickness-related absences (e.g., event conflicts) must be received at least 24 hours before the scheduled class time to be eligible for a make-up.
  • Sickness Cancellation: For sickness-related absences, written notice must be received at least 3 hours before the scheduled class time. A make-up class will be offered only upon presentation of a valid doctor's note.
  • No Show. Absence without prior notice will be considered as forfeiting the class. No refund and no makeup class will be arranged.
  • Teacher Absence. Makeup lesson will be arranged for teacher's absence and sickness.
  • Weather Policy. If Typhoon Warning Signal No. 8 or Black Rainstorm Warning is lifted before 12 noon, the centre will reopen and classes will resume approximately two hours afterwards. Classes are cancelled for the entire day if the warning is lifted after 12 noon. No makeup class, no refund or alternative compensation are available for weather enforced closure.

Suzuki Instrumental Programmes Studio Policies (age 4-17)

Suzuki Instrumental Programme Includes:

  1. Suzuki Piano Programme
  2. Suzuki Violin Programme
  3. Suzuki Cello Programme
  4. Vocal Programme

Fees and Payment

  1. Registration Fee: A non-refundable HKD $500 registration fee is mandatory for all students, both new and continuing, at the beginning of each term. This fee is separate from and does not cover the Program Fee (tuition).

  2. Programme Fee: This fee is charged per term (Fall or Winter) and includes:
    • Tuition (for private and group lessons)
    • Recital hall rental costs
    • Accompanist fees
    • Use of academy facilities
    • Instrumental maintenance
  3. Refund Policy: All fees (Registration Fee + Program Fee) are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable once payment is received.

Instrumental Private Lessons Make-Up Policies

  • Make-up lessons must be completed within the current term.
  • Lesson credits cannot be carried over or transferred to the following semester.
  • Due to limited teacher availability and full schedules, make-up lessons will not be provided beyond the conditions listed here.
  • Lessons forfeited due to a no-show without prior written notice will not be eligible for a make-up session.

Instrumental Programmes Group Class Make-Up Policies

  • Students are eligible for a make-up session for ONE missed group class, which will be offered at the end of the term. A minimum of 24 hours' advance written notice is required to qualify.
  • Group classes cannot be exchanged or swapped for a different class time.
  • Please note that the full group experience may not be perfectly replicated in a make-up session due to the interactive nature of the class.

Early Bird Registration (Applies to Suzuki Instrumental Programmes Only)

Students enrolled in the Suzuki Instrumental Programmes (ages 4-17) are eligible for the EarlyBird discount. Payment made before the specified deadline entitles the student to two complimentary 30-minute private classes, redeemable during the summer period (i.e.July 1st – August 31st)

Programme Structure

The comprehensive term programme for Seed students includes:

  • 18 Private Lessons
    • Note for new registrants: The first four private lessons of the term are dedicated to Parent-Teacher Lessons only (the student does not attend).
  • 8 Group Lessons
  • Performance Opportunities
    • 2 Orchestral Rehearsals (Strings only)
    • 1 Ensemble Concert (Strings only)
    • 1 Term-End Solo Recital
  • Attendance Requirement All classes require the student to be accompanied by a Suzuki parenting adult. This adult is a parent or guardian figure who attends lessons and actively supports the student's practice at home.

Adult Programmes Studio Policies (age 18+)

  • Rescheduling: 24 hours of written notice is required to reschedule a class.
  • Validity of Packages:
    • 10 lessons: Valid for 12 weeks from the date payment is completed.
    • 18 lessons: Valid for 5 months from the date payment is completed.
  • Illness/Absence: Students who are sick at home or out of town with less than 24 hours' notice may opt to conduct their class online.
  • Makeup Lessons: All makeup lessons must be completed within the validity period of the purchased package.
  • Forfeited Lessons: Failure to attend class without prior written notice (no-show) will result in a forfeited lesson, and no makeup class will be offered.

Optional Performance Fee (Adult Students) An additional fee of HKD $800 will be charged for adult students who wish to perform on stage. This fee covers rehearsal, accompanist services, and recital performance costs.
