About Jennifer Moberg

Jennifer began her musical journey as a Suzuki kid, studying violin under John Klein, with further studies with Caonex Camilo-Peguero and Chang Guo. She then pursued a BA in Music from Houghton University.Jennifer did long-term Suzuki teacher training and apprenticeship at the Hartt School of Music with Teri Einfeldt, and additional training with Carrie Reunning, Ronda Cole, Ed Kreitman, Gail Johansen, and Lan Ku Chen. She taught at various Suzuki institutions, including Hartt Community Music School, Suzuki Music School of Westport, and Talent Education Suzuki School.

In 2006, Jennifer founded the KinderU Suzuki Music Academy, the first Suzuki school in Hong Kong and China. KSMA offered instruction in violin, viola, cello, piano, and early childhood music, as well as an integrated refugee music program. She was a regular guest teacher in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Taiwan, and brought students to Suzuki World Conventions in Australia and Japan.

Jennifer's journey took a transformative turn with a working sabbatical at the Afghanistan National Institute of Music, the country's only music school. There, she taught violin, viola, chamber music, and music academics, while leading outreach initiatives that showcased ANIM students at embassies, UN functions, and international tours, including presentations for government bodies and the president of Afghanistan. Her time in Afghanistan not only deepened her commitment to music but also led Jennifer into the human rights sector. She subsequently pursued a master's degree in international development, focusing on migration and displacement, and has since dedicated her career to working with refugees and victims of human trafficking.

Currently, she serves as the Executive Director of the Hong Kong Dignity Institute, which provides integrated legal and psychosocial care to victims of human trafficking and forced migration.

Now, as a proud Suzuki parent to a budding musician, Jennifer is completing the Suzuki triangle, reaffirming her commitment to the Suzuki philosophy and nurturing her next generation musician.
